Question 7

Where can I find free parking in Geelong?

Accepted Answer

Free parking in Geelong is generally limited, particularly in the central business district (CBD) and popular commercial areas. The City of Greater Geelong operates various car parks and on-street spaces, many of which are paid and have time restrictions to encourage turnover.

Westfield Geelong offers 2 hours of free parking daily. If you spend over $150 at the centre, you can extend this to 3 hours of free parking. Beyond these limits, fees apply.

Some areas on the fringes of the CBD or in residential streets further out may offer free, time-limited parking, typically for shorter durations (e.g., 1 or 2 hours). Always check signage carefully, as parking restrictions are strictly enforced. Finding untimed or unrestricted free parking in close proximity to the city centre is challenging and may require parking further away.

Question 8

What are the parking options near Geelong Waterfront?

Accepted Answer

Parking near the Geelong Waterfront is primarily managed by the City of Greater Geelong, offering a mix of on-street and off-street options.

The Eastern Beach Car Park, located directly on the waterfront, provides convenient access. Current rates are:

Monday - Friday (9 am - 5:30 pm): $2.80 per hour, with a daily maximum of $11.20.
Saturday (9 am - 12 pm): $2.80 per hour, with a maximum of $5.60.
Parking is free outside these hours, and all day on Sundays and public holidays.

Similar council-managed parking facilities, including the Cunningham Pier Car Park and various metered on-street parking bays, are available along the waterfront and in the surrounding central Geelong area, generally following similar pricing structures. For private parking options, consider checking platforms like Parkhound for available spaces in the vicinity.
